The ideal home battery depends on your electricity usage, number of solar panels and budget. For an average household (3-4 people), 5-10 kWh is usually sufficient. With a heat pump or electric car, 10-15 kWh is recommended. Use our buying guide for personal advice.

Home batteries cost between EUR 2,000 and EUR 12,000 in 2026, depending on capacity (kWh), brand and features. The average price per kWh is EUR 300-500. VAT can be reclaimed when combined with solar panels.

Can I install a home battery myself?

Plug-and-play systems like the Anker Solarbank series can be self-installed. Larger, hardwired systems require a certified installer. Home Energy Solutions can arrange installation for you.

How do I compare home batteries by price per kWh?

Divide the purchase price by the usable capacity in kWh. Also consider lifespan (cycles), warranty and round-trip efficiency. A EUR 5,000 battery with 10 kWh costs EUR 500 per kWh. Cheaper is not always better — also look at quality and warranty.
